provides assistance for the promotion and Development of
Micro, Small and Medium Scale Industries in the state of West Bengal and Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. At present, there are
three (3) Branch Institutes at Siliguri, Suri & Durgapur covering 20 districts in West Bengal and one Branch Institute at Port Blair covering two districts in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Aim of this Institute is to implement policy guideline of government of India that is coming under Additional Secretary and the Development Commissioner
(MSME), New Delhi of Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO), Govt. of India, Ministry of
MSME. It is one of the prime organizations of Govt. of India which formulates and monitors the policies and program of Govt. of India for the promotion and development of
micro, small and medium scale industries all over the country through
MSME - Development
Institutes and its Branch Institutes.
The Institute is headed by Director who is a technocrat having vast experience and knowledge on various field of promotional activity related to
MSME Sector. The Director of the Institute and it's Branch Institutes are assisted by Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Investigators having background on Technology, Engineering, Economics & Statistics and Management discipline. Services covered by this Institute are of areas like :- MECHANICAL, LEATHER & FOOTWEAR, ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS, GLASS & CERAMICS, EXPORT, CHEMICAL & FOOD, HOSIERY, ANCILLARY, METALLURGY, ECONOMIC INVESTIGATION & STATISTICS, SENET, CANE AND BAMBOO, INDUSTRIAL MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING, HINDI, LIBRARY, INFORMATION FACILITATION CELL AND MORE.
